Gynecologist care

A gynecologist is your first call for the everyday and the unexpected — annual well-woman exams, birth control, and the symptoms that need answers. Most women start care around age 21, or when they become sexually active, then see a gynecologist every year. You see a physician who knows your history and follows it over time.

When to see a gynecologist

Start annual visits around age 21 or when you become sexually active. Come in sooner for irregular, heavy, or painful periods, birth control or fertility questions, pelvic pain, or any change in your sexual or reproductive health. If a condition needs surgery — fibroids, cysts, or a hysterectomy — our GYN surgeons handle that in-house.

What to expect

Plan about 30 minutes. At an annual visit your gynecologist performs a full check-up — including breast and pelvic exams — reviews your history, and orders any Pap, urine, or blood work you need. There's always time for your questions, and results reach your patient portal within days.

Common questions
When should I start seeing a gynecologist?

Most women begin around age 21, or sooner if they're sexually active or have concerns like irregular periods, pain, or contraception questions. After that, an annual visit is recommended.

What happens at an annual well-woman visit?

A full physical including breast and pelvic exams, a Pap smear when it's due, a review of your health and history, and any lab work you need — plus time to talk through anything on your mind.

Can I be seen for a problem, not just my annual?

Yes. Alongside annual care we see problem visits for pain, abnormal bleeding, infections, and other concerns, often the same week.

Do you take my insurance?
